As a supervisor, manager, and director at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for 26 years, I held increasingly responsible management & leadership positions in two regional offices and EPA Headquarters. When I retired I was Director of Air Quality for the Northwest. One of my most exciting assignments in government was Director for the Office for Innovation.
Since 2004, I have worked as an independent coach, consultant, and trainer. Coaching is the cornerstone of Thrive Coaching & Consulting. I excel in relationship coaching, specializing in coaching managers who want to be great leaders, leaders in government, individuals navigating change and adversity, and families of addicts. I am also known to be an expert in management, leadership, and how to lead an organization through a change process.
I have a passion for helping families impacted by addiction. In my own journey, I learned to stay connected with those suffering from addiction, in themselves and/or in others, while still taking care of me. My arduous life journey brought me to a place of inner knowing that the antidote to addiction is connection, and that anyone can recover with support. I have walked the path I coach others to take. I have faced my own fears about addiction, rewritten my story, and learned how to help those suffering from shame, guilt, and isolation. I share my learnings in a concrete and helpful way allowing others to find hope and equanimity even in the most challenging circumstances.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Bucknell University; and a Master's Degree in Special Studies with an emphasis in Environmental Health Science from George Washington University. I am also a graduate of Accomplishment Coaching. While at the EPA, I won EPA's National Excellence in Management Award and completed the Senior Executive Service Candidate program.
I reside on Bainbridge Island in Washington, and have three children and two grandchildren. When I am not coaching, I enjoy hiking, swimming, yoga, meditation, reading, and spending time with friends, family and grandchildren.
I enjoy a challenge! I love nothing more than hiking 500 miles on the Camino with my backpack, boots and poles.
